- Are you an AMG US citizen
- IMG US citizen or permanent resident
- Not more than 2-5 years after graduation
- Your letters of recommendation and deans letter

As more and more applicants are applying for residency and programs see huge increases in the number of applications every year, they have to develop innovative ways of selecting and eliminating candidates.
Some put the information on their web site such as having a cut off for usmle scores or putting a cap on how long ago you graduated from medical school.
In some programs, the number of applicants has jumped from 300 candidates to about a 1000 or more. The program director will have to cut down this list to about 100 people or less to invite for interviews, and from the interviews cut it down to about 20 or 30 which they will go for the ranking with.
